Lucas Pollock

From an early age, my life has been shaped by a unique blend of cultures. With a mother from Spain and a father from the United States, I grew up getting to know two distinct worlds very closely. This multicultural upbringing, combined with exposure to the diverse realities of friends and their families from Latin America, Africa, and other parts of the world, laid the foundation for my global perspective, now also shaped by having studied abroad in the UK.  At home, my parents instilled in me the importance of being goodhearted and dedicated, teaching me to listen and respect others, regardless of circumstances. These lessons were complemented by my school education, where I learnt about the inequality and unfairness that many experience throughout their lives. This combination of personal and academic experiences made me realize the significance of bridging cultures, mediating conflicts, and facilitating interdependence, both within borders and across them.  My parents and school taught me a wide set of values, but empathy, fairness, and equality particularly resonated with me. Although they didn’t explicitly teach me how to turn these values into goals and motivations, my university experiences and other life events helped me understand that I could channel these values into what some call “development” work.  These ideas now serve as the foundation for my emerging career. Through my work at Broadpeak, I hope to use my knowledge and skills to unlock exponential social development and help clients and partners in doing so too.
