In addition to my family, friends and the many communities that I’m fortunate to be a part of, baseball has played a significant role in defining who I am today. Playing baseball from the age of 7 years old through today as a NCAA Division 1 player, I’ve learned that success is earned through hard work, dedication, persistence and opportunity. Baseball has taught me time management, how to mentally and physically manage high-pressure situations, and how to constantly compete for the end result desired. Ironically, through it all, what has stayed with me isn’t the stats or the incredible stadiums or the places I’ve traveled, it’s the people I’ve been so fortunate to cross paths with. I’ve shared dugouts with guys from big cities, small villages, small colleges and junior colleges to high academic schools and even players who are barely making ends meet. We have come from different “worlds”, but when a team, we were united, we were unstoppable, and all differences disappeared. The mix of cultures, personalities, and perspectives—bound by a shared love for the game—taught me how to build trust quickly, handle setbacks with perspective, and stay grounded, no matter what. It gave me a deep respect for the things that connect us, even when everything else seems different. That’s something I carry with me well beyond the game. It’s an honor to be learning from my colleagues at Broadpeak where having purpose is a founding value.
