Charles Agwanda

I am a Kenyan born agricultural and rural development specialist with more than two decades of experience working across Africa on agricultural research, value chain development, food systems, market access, and programme evaluation. Raised in a smallholder farming family, my professional journey has been shaped by a grounded understanding of the opportunities and constraints facing farmers, agri-enterprises, and rural communities across the continent. I am particularly focused on making agricultural systems more productive, inclusive, resilient, and investment-ready.

Trained in agriculture and grounded in both research and practice, I have worked extensively with governments, regional institutions, development partners, producer organizations, and private sector actors to design and assess interventions that improve agricultural productivity, strengthen value chains, enhance food safety and phytosanitary systems, and expand market opportunities. My work spans Eastern, Central, Southern, and West Africa, with strong experience in policy analysis, institutional assessments, impact evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and strategy development.

At Broadpeak, I contribute sector expertise in agriculture and agri-food systems, supporting work at the intersection of development, markets, and impact-oriented advisory with a strong Africa lens.
